Melody In My Mind

One day

I heard a melody in my mind.

It came out of the blue,

beckoning to be read.

To be heard,

to be sung,

it was sweet.

Like surprises,

like sunrises,

like sugar,

no spice —

just right.

It rang and ran,

unfurling,

unspooling.

Like a poem I didn’t plan,

like a thought I didn’t plant.

It bloomed,

in tune;

it reminded me of you.

I only caught it for a moment,

but it’ll leave again, won’t it?

They always do.

Those melodies.

Fleeting Do-Re-Mi’s.

Fa-So

La-La-La

Tea in the window.

Hot steam,

it soothes,

calling to the muses,

waiting on another melody,

in my mind,

in time...
